About the Company

A family-owned roofing contractor based in Pomona Park, in Putnam County, Florida. Juan Medina is the owner and the roofer on every job, with nearly 20 years of roofing experience, most of it on metal. Yes. JM Roofing LLC holds Florida roofing contractor license RC29027900, issued by the state Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Florida requires a state license for roofing work, so any contractor you talk to should be able to give you a number you can look up. JM Roofing is also a BBB Accredited Business with an A rating.

Putnam County is home, so Pomona Park, Palatka, Crescent City, Satsuma, Welaka and Interlachen are close. Beyond that we work in Ocala, Lake City, Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Palm Coast, Daytona Beach and DeLand. The full list is on the service areas page.

Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. If you get voicemail, leave the address and what you are seeing and Tania will call you back. We do not promise emergency response times, but if water is coming in, say so and we will get Juan out as soon as the schedule allows.

Metal Roofing Questions

Because the climate is hard on asphalt. Relentless sun, afternoon thunderstorms most days in summer, tropical storm wind, high humidity and algae streaking all wear shingles out. A metal roof shrugs most of that off, reflects more heat, and does not grow black streaks. It is the roof you put on once. Most of what we build is metal for that reason. Details on the metal roofing page.

Tri County Metals, a Florida manufacturer with plants that include Ocala, DeLand and Jacksonville, all inside our service area. We are a factory trained installer for Tri County Metals. Every panel carries a Florida Product Approval in the FL 36904 family, and most also hold a Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance. The paint and finish are backed by Tri County Metals' limited paint and finish warranty.

Standing seam panels lock together with hidden fasteners, so there are no exposed screws on the roof surface and the look is clean and modern. 5V is the classic Florida crimp panel with exposed fasteners, the roof you see on older farmhouses and river cottages. Both are Tri County Metals panels with Florida Product Approvals. Juan will show you both and price each.

Tri County Metals' color charts run from Polar White and Light Stone through Ash Gray, Charcoal, Barn Red, Evergreen, Hawaiian Blue and Galvalume. On our own jobs you will see Copper Penny, a bright red, silver galvalume, light gray, charcoal and blue. Lighter colors reflect more sun. Look at real houses on the our work page before you pick.

Repairs, Storms and Insurance

Age and how much of the roof is failing. One cracked pipe boot or a bad section of chimney flashing on a roof with life left in it is a roof repair. Shingles shedding granules on every slope, soft decking underfoot, or leaks in more than one place usually mean the roof has run its course. Juan will tell you which one you have, with photos.

Put a bucket under it, move anything valuable, and if you can safely do so, poke a small hole in a bulging ceiling to let the water out before it spreads. Then call. Juan traces the leak to where the water actually enters, which is rarely straight above the drip. More on roof leak repair and detection.

Yes. We photograph and document the damage, meet the adjuster on the roof, and explain the scope of work so nothing gets left out. We do not decide what the insurer pays and we do not promise an outcome. Florida generally requires notice of a new property claim within one year of the date of loss, so do not sit on it. See storm damage restoration.

Yes. We do roof inspections for buyers, for insurance renewals, and after storms, and we put the findings in writing with photos. If your insurer asked for a wind mitigation or 4-point form, tell Tania which one when you call so Juan brings the right paperwork. Many insurers are declining older shingle roofs, and an inspection tells you where you stand.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on the size and pitch of the roof, the number of penetrations, the condition of the decking, and the material: metal costs more than shingle up front, and standing seam more than 5V. We do not publish price ranges because they would be wrong for your house. Juan measures, then gives you a written price on each option.

Yes, through Regions Bank and EnerBank: 9 months same as cash, 9.99% for 5 years, and 9.99% for 12 years, on approved credit. Pre-qualifying does not affect your credit score. The estimate comes first, and financing is optional. The plans and the lender's full terms are on the financing page.

Most houses come off and go back on in a day or two, weather permitting. Bigger roofs, steep pitches, rotten decking or a complicated metal layout add time. Juan gives you the expected schedule with the estimate, and Tania calls if the forecast moves it. Summer afternoons are planned around the thunderstorms.
